The Malverne High School Select Choir, led by Mr. Kenneth Zagare, was founded in 2006, and has taken off on a successful journey of performing quality music.  The ensemble is open to students by competitive audition only.  An average of ten to twelve students are accepted each year out of a pool of over fifty students.  Students who wish to audition for Select Choir must be students of excellent character and also be in good academic standing. They must also be a part of the Mixed Chorus, Concert Choir or Marching Band which meets during the school day.  The Select Choir opened up for the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall in November 2019.  They also performed as part of the Candelight Processional at Disney in December 2019.  They perform at every school concert throughout the year, as well as many other performances including but not limited to the Albany Music in Our School Months festival, NAACP Jubilee Celebration, Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration and Music in the Parks Festival at Busch Gardens & Hershey Park.  The Malverne High School Select Choir has taken home the First Place title for the past decade from the Music in the Parks festival, receiving a rating of Superior.  Members of the Select Choir sing music from all genres.  Students rehearse once a week.  The ensemble has had members in the NY All-State Festival, NAfME All-Eastern Mixed Chorus, ACDA Chinese Repertoire Honor Choir, ACDA Latino Repertoire Honor Choir, ACDA Musical Theatre Repertoire Choir and the ACDA Eastern Division Honor Choir.  The MHS Select Choir practices diligently to achieve musical excellence.
