On Jan. 16, the Malverne UFSD Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration brought our community together for an incredible night that truly honored the life and lasting legacy of Dr. King.
Congratulations to our student performers who brought Dr. King's dream to life on stage with their spirit and songs and thank you to our amazing emcees for the evening Savannah Green and Jordan Exilus who did a fantastic job!
We were so proud to honor two remarkable members of our Malverne community with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award. Congratulations to Ms. Florence Balay and Ms. Norma Britt and thank you both for your decades of service to Malverne students. There was so much love in the room for both of you and all the accolades are well-deserved!
Finally, thank you to everyone who came out to join us for this exciting and moving celebration. As we look back on the 60th anniversary of MLK's visit to Malverne in on May 11, 1965, a key moment in the desegregation movement, it's important to remember the power of community, the power of hope and the power that is within all of us to make the world a better place.
