Congratulations to the cast and crew of the Malverne High School production of “Anastasia: The Musical,” who swept audiences off their feet with three spectacular performances at HTH Auditorium on March 7 and 8.

Set in the 1920s, the musical, which is based on the book by Terrence McNally, follows the journey of a young Russian pauper and her adventures as she searches to find her true identity in a dangerous and unforgiving world.

On-stage, the actors delivered an unwavering balance of drama, romance, charm and humor, expertly transporting audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris where Anastasia set to uncover the mysteries of her past. Their soaring voices and precisely choreographed dance sequences brought the production to life and showcased the incredible talent that is being developed within the district.

The show features a stunning score, which was performed with perfection by a live orchestra featuring a collaboration of student and professional musicians.

Behind the scenes, the stage crew performed their tasks flawlessly, setting the scenes with elaborate set pieces, dramatic lights and video projections and exceptional sound, enabling audiences to fully immerse in the epic adventure.

The district is proud to recognize the students and staff who spent countless hours building, rehearsing and perfecting their performances and preparing to offer this rich and exciting production to the community. Based on the standing ovations and smiling faces leaving the auditorium, your talent and efforts were appreciated by attendees of all ages.
